Every Day Canadians

Update – March 2017

Photographing Canadians

Stock photos by Michel LoiselleEvery year, I visit Parliament Hill  on Canada Day. It’s simply wonderful! There are at least 100,000 people at any given moment and the free entertainment is incredible. You can see and hear musicians, buskers, circus acts, face painters, uni-cyclists, and anything else you can think of.

I photograph people who dress specifically for Canada Day on Parliament Hill and who want to show their pride and be different for a day. All of the people you see here were more than happy to pose with tourists and talk to everyone from around the world.

Got a minute? Have a look T the “People” photo collection and do visit the Portfolio for the complete collection.

Designing with Photography

Update – February 2018

The Right Photo for the Right Project

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel Loiselle

Considering we’re all designing some type of communication like newsletters, communiqués, reports, presentations, blogs etc., read an idea that may help you choose the right photo for your Canadian document. A business project could go like this: We need an image that speaks loud but professionally. It should accommodate a title and other smaller text. And finally, it must portray Canada in a positive light.

The image above, Political Glow fits the bill as it’s very striking and has room for title and text. Also, anyone, anywhere in Canada will relate to the architecture and sense of pride, making it ideal. I’ve added the PARLIAMENT – PART OF OUR HERITAGE title to show how text and photo work well together. The landscape orientation is ideal for PowerPoint presentations. Don’t forget to use color to emphasize your point. Here, the IAM ART gold color is perfect as it’s matched to the building. The Parliament photo collection also includes a “Portrait” version of the image for those who are creating letter-size portrait formats.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about photos for reports and encourage you to put it to use. Have a look at the 250+ collection of Canadian Parliament photos. Many of the pictures are ideal for Canadian documentation. Images start at $12 and can be downloaded any time. Extended and multi user licensing is available for sharing images directly on your network with business colleagues.

Browse the collection for ideas of images that are ready for publishing.

Thank you for reading and have a great evening.

Michel

Images in Color and in Stereo

Update – March 2018

Hi, I wonder what you may be thinking about the title of this blog. Images in color? Yes, but images in stereo? Okay, let me explain. First, let me back up and give you some background.

I sell stock photos to Graphic Designers, Publishing firms, Advertising and Communications agencies and Print houses. Knowing what type of images these professionals need is always a challenge. So, I try to stay ahead of the game by providing tailored photography.

Images in Color

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleHaving an image in color supposes that there are other types. Because these photos are architectural, they also look great in black & white. We don’t see too many monochrome images these days, so once in a while, convert some images to black & white on your Web site for an interesting effect. Someone may even notice.

Images in Stereo

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleIt’s from a song called “En Stéréo et en couleurs” by franco-ontarian singer/songwriter Paul Demers that I’ve applied to images. What it really means is that I create 2 versions of certain scenes to give designers more choice. For example above, Political Glow and Lunar Politics, are photographed in both landscape and portrait orientations to solve any layout problems a designer might have with space on a page.

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleThese images, Confederation Towers and Night Politics show the same scene but in both day and night flavors. This way, you can use both files in a document and get more mileage out of the look.

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleHere, we’re dealing with similar images, Canadian Silhouette and Political silhouette, but in different colors, the designer is able to closely match the image to the project color theme. When you’re working with photography in reports and documents, you need to have all the tools at your disposal, and these images will help to accomplish this.

The photos featured in this article are from the Canadian Parliament collection of over 200 images starting at $12 and available for immediate download. The collection includes, Christmas, Seasons, The Library, Indoors and Canada Day.

Parliament images by Michel LoiselleThe Rideau Canal photos show our Parliament during summer and winter. As you can appreciate, building a seasonal photo collection takes time, but in the end, it’s all worth it.

Here, we’re presented with the Inuksuk, in both seasons. If someone is writing an article on Inuit practices and lifestyles, purchasing both photos makes sense as you get variety, authenticity and more interest for the story. So now, you can work with images that are tailored for your season-specific projects.

You’ve learned a new term, “In Color and in Stereo”, and nobody but us will ever know what it means. Hope you’ve enjoyed reading and discovering new photography.

P.S. Visit the Canadian Parliament photo collection – Over 250 images.

Have an excellent day.

Michel

SHOWING OFF!

Canadian Parliament photos by Mchel Loiselle

Update – March 2017

Now here’s a man who wants to show his stuff in downtown Ottawa and on Parliament Hill. Every year on Canada Day, he dresses in flags and goes out walking all day and stops to pose with tourists.

I love his attitude and the obvious pride he has for our country. He agreed to pose for my collection of stock photos. I call it Captain Canada. It would make an ideal image to include in documents and reports.

Here are more proud Canadians!

Have a look at the Portfolio to see more Canada related photography. If you’re feeling patriotic, see the 200+ Canadian Parliament photo collection. Images start at $12 and are available for immediate download.

Thank you and have a great day!
