Canada Day on Parliament Hill

Ohh What a Feeling — What a Rushh!

Update – March 2018

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel Loiselle

Standing on Parliament Hill with 100,000 people and seeing the Canadian Snowbirds fly over the Peace Tower is a special moment in my life. The sound of those jets alone wakes you up!

It was fantastic.

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleLater that night, I crossed the Ottawa river to the Canadian Museum of History and witnessed this wonderful sight!

I’m a proud Canadian.

See the Canadian Parliament photo collection. Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

Michel

Images in Color and in Stereo

Update – March 2018

Hi, I wonder what you may be thinking about the title of this blog. Images in color? Yes, but images in stereo? Okay, let me explain. First, let me back up and give you some background.

I sell stock photos to Graphic Designers, Publishing firms, Advertising and Communications agencies and Print houses. Knowing what type of images these professionals need is always a challenge. So, I try to stay ahead of the game by providing tailored photography.

Images in Color

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleHaving an image in color supposes that there are other types. Because these photos are architectural, they also look great in black & white. We don’t see too many monochrome images these days, so once in a while, convert some images to black & white on your Web site for an interesting effect. Someone may even notice.

Images in Stereo

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleIt’s from a song called “En Stéréo et en couleurs” by franco-ontarian singer/songwriter Paul Demers that I’ve applied to images. What it really means is that I create 2 versions of certain scenes to give designers more choice. For example above, Political Glow and Lunar Politics, are photographed in both landscape and portrait orientations to solve any layout problems a designer might have with space on a page.

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleThese images, Confederation Towers and Night Politics show the same scene but in both day and night flavors. This way, you can use both files in a document and get more mileage out of the look.

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleHere, we’re dealing with similar images, Canadian Silhouette and Political silhouette, but in different colors, the designer is able to closely match the image to the project color theme. When you’re working with photography in reports and documents, you need to have all the tools at your disposal, and these images will help to accomplish this.

The photos featured in this article are from the Canadian Parliament collection of over 200 images starting at $12 and available for immediate download. The collection includes, Christmas, Seasons, The Library, Indoors and Canada Day.

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleFinally, let’s look at working with different seasons. These photos, Library View and Inside Politics are an example of being there at the right time and the right season.

Parliament images by Michel LoiselleThe Rideau Canal photos show our Parliament during summer and winter. As you can appreciate, building a seasonal photo collection takes time, but in the end, it’s all worth it.

Here, we’re presented with the Inuksuk, in both seasons. If someone is writing an article on Inuit practices and lifestyles, purchasing both photos makes sense as you get variety, authenticity and more interest for the story. So now, you can work with images that are tailored for your season-specific projects.

You’ve learned a new term, “In Color and in Stereo”, and nobody but us will ever know what it means. Hope you’ve enjoyed reading and discovering new photography.

P.S. Visit the Canadian Parliament photo collection – Over 250 images.

Have an excellent day.

Michel

The Canadian Parliament is a statement in Gothic Revival architecture

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel Loiselle

The political lines to follow inside Parliament are evident by the beautiful gothic revival style that is the Rotunda. The workmanship and detail make the visit worthwhile as soon as you enter.

Why are photos of Parliament mostly summer shots? What about the other seasons?

Consider this image, October Politics and how it gives a new feeling to the subject. It’s alive with color and truly inviting. Graphic Designers can get at least one photo of each season to help with specific campaigns.

This Spring Parliament photo certainly says spring with pride and energy. See how CERC has used the image for an online magazine article.

Ensuring that all seasons are included in the Canadian Parliament portfolio makes the collection more valuable to clients.

The fact that this image is on an angle also helps attract attention to your story and get your message across more readily.

Keeping the Designer in mind when creating images is important. Clients want choice.

The Political Glow image below certainly says summer with attitude! It’s a great image to have when you really need to say CANADA in your message.

Canadian Pride

Update – March 2017

Respecting Canada and its Institution

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleMeet Michel Loiselle, an Ottawa Graphic Designer / Photographer who fell in love with the gothic architecture of the Canadian Parliament. As for respecting the institution, he’s built a 25-year career on Parliament Hill as a Graphic Designer. “I’ve been taking photos of Parliament since 2006 and consider the collection ready for show”, says Loiselle. He continues to add to the collection. As it grew, he wanted more, wanted to portray it in ways that showed pride, history, excitement, education and national community. The Parliament collection is now available for sale to publishing houses, advertising and communications firms through stock agencies such as Mostphotos, Shutterstock, BIGSTOCK and Fotolia, but more and more people are buying them for their homes. It shows the respect Canadians have for their freedom. The various Parliament buildings are showcased in scenes such as Seasons, Inside, Night, Canada Day, Evening, and Christmas. Great care is taken to ensure that images are of the highest quality for magazine publication. The photos are also used as posters for Canadian events and conferences.

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleUnusual Angles and Perspectives

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleThe collection features different perspectives as in this Parliamentary image behind the Alexandra bridge. You’ll agree that it has its own feeling! Because he’s from Ottawa, Michel returns again and again to Parliament Hill to get the best times of day or special days when just the right seasonal effect is needed. Canadian Parliament photos by Michel Loiselle

Canadian Parliament photos by Michel LoiselleThis image, Political Justice, is another example of Michel’s dedication to originality. By combining justice and political icons, the photograph becomes a story, concept or metaphor, giving designers more flexibility for imaging. All this thinking goes into creating an original collection.

By making available various buildings, the collection becomes more important. For example, if you wish to show where Members of Parliament have offices on Parliament Hill, simply turn to the Confederation building, expanding the reach and giving designers more options. These photos of the Confederation building taken in summer, winter and spring, show the diversity of the Canadian Parliament collection. Creating it takes time as the seasons pass, a few images are added and different feelings are achieved.
